Why Your 2026 Resolutions Feel Like Burnout: A Somatic Approach to Growth—Plus a FREE Tapping Resource
The Hidden Barrier to Growth: Survival Mode
As the quiet of winter settles over Charlotte, it provides a necessary backdrop for a truth I see daily in my clinical EFT practice: Growth cannot be forced upon a system that doesn't feel safe.
I spend my days witnessing the incredible resilience of women navigating the heaviest of life’s imprints—from birth trauma and childhood attachment wounds to the crushing weight of midlife burnout.
Many of the women I work with are high-achievers who have spent years in "survival mode." They come to me because they’ve realized that no matter how much they try to "level up," their body is still holding onto a state of hypervigilance.
It’s Not Time to Push Harder; It’s Time to Recalibrate
There is so much noise right now about "optimizing" and "pushing through." But if your nervous system is still carrying the depletion of the past, "growth" feels like just another exhausting item on a to-do list.
In the world of trauma-informed healing, we know that if the body doesn't feel safe, "new" is perceived as a threat.
Real transformation isn’t a sprint; it’s a somatic recalibration. It’s about teaching your body—on a cellular level—that it is safe to expand without having to work harder. My mission at Rising Feminine EFT is to help you move out of that frantic survival energy and into a state of regulated, radiant expansion.
Free Resource: Your "Gentle Start" Tapping Script
If you’re feeling the pressure to perform but your energy is low, use this tapping script to begin your recalibration.
Don't know how to tap yet? I got you covered!
1. The Somatic Check-In
Close your eyes. Think about the year ahead and any pressure you feel to "be better."
Locate: Where do you feel that in your body? (e.g., a knot in the stomach, tightness in the throat?)
Describe: What is the sensation? (e.g., heavy, buzzy, cold?)
Score: On a scale of 0–10, how intense is that physical feeling right now?
2. The Setup (Tapping the side of the hand)
Repeat these three statements aloud:
"Even though I feel this [sensation] in my [body part] when I think about the pressure to grow, I deeply and completely accept myself."
"Even though part of me is afraid I don't have the energy for 'new' things, I honor how hard I’ve worked and I’m open to a new rhythm."
"Even though my nervous system feels stuck in survival mode, I accept who I am and I’m giving my body permission to feel safe."
3. The Three Rounds of Tapping
Round 1: Acknowledging the Load
Top of Head: All this pressure to grow.
Eyebrow: This [sensation] in my [body part].
Side of Eye: I’m still so tired from everything I’ve carried.
Under Eye: My body is waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Collarbone: This remaining survival energy in my system.
Round 2: The Softening
Top of Head: What if I don't have to rush?
Eyebrow: Releasing this tension from my body.
Side of Eye: Letting my shoulders drop just a millimeter.
Under Eye: It’s okay to move slowly.
Collarbone: Giving my nervous system permission to exhale.
Round 3: The Integration
Top of Head: I am safe to expand at my own pace.
Eyebrow: My growth doesn't have to be a struggle.
Side of Eye: I am reclaimed and centered.
Collarbone: I am choosing a year of regulated growth.
4. The Check-in:
Take a deep breath. Notice the sensation again. What is your score now? Even a drop of one or two points is a sign your nervous system is shifting toward safety.
