Frequently Asked Questions
EFT Tapping can be described as psychological or emotional needleless acupuncture. It is a therapeutic method that combines elements of exposure therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acupressure. I prefer to think of EFT as a portal to your subconscious, a somatic tool to reset and rewire your brain and body.
Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is not only safe during pregnancy, but it is a powerful tool for navigating the physical, emotional, and hormonal shifts of this sacred transition. Because it is a non-invasive, "bottom-up" somatic therapy, it works with your body’s natural calming response without the need for pharmacological intervention.
When you experience stress, anxiety, or triggers related to attachment wounds or previous reproductive trauma, your body releases cortisol. Clinical EFT has been scientifically shown to significantly lower cortisol levels. By soothing your nervous system, you are creating a more regulated, peaceful environment for your developing baby.
As a trauma-informed practitioner, I adapt our sessions to honor your changing body:
Gentle Tapping: We use a very light touch. If certain tapping points feel sensitive (such as the collarbone or abdomen), we simply focus on the points that feel grounding for you.
Focus on Regulation: We prioritize "Resources" and grounding techniques to ensure you feel safe and held, avoiding "flooding" the nervous system.
Addressing Birth Fear: We can gently clear "tokophobia" (fear of childbirth) or anxieties stemming from ancestral stories of difficult births.
Important Note: While EFT is a wonderful self-help tool, I always recommend that pregnant women work with a certified, trauma-informed clinical practitioner when processing deep-seated childhood trauma or birth-related PTSD. This ensures you have a "second nervous system" to help you stay regulated.
There are some similarities between clinical EFT and traditional talk therapy, and many people who have gone to therapy for years are drawn to EFT for its rapid, noticeable results in calming the nervous system and shifting deep-seated emotional blocks.
EFT Tapping can be used in conjunction with your existing therapeutic journey, as it provides a powerful, somatic tool to process emotions in the moment. I can absolutely work with you and your therapist to ensure our sessions are a complementary and supportive layer that fast-tracks your healing and integration.
I am a clinical EFT certified practitioner; I am not a therapist. I receive ongoing Energy Psychology and EFT education through my certification body, EFTU. I’m also a trauma-sensitive practitioner through the HeartMath Institute. I possess certification in Ziva Meditation, and I have a B.S. in Communication from Florida International University. I began practicing meditation, yoga, and hypnosis in 2001.

During our first session, we will discuss the issue or problem that brought you to me, review your history and family background so we can identify any unwanted patterns, habits, or beliefs; and then we will tap together on that issue or problem causing you emotional or physical pain, with the goal of releasing it from your nervous system and rewiring your neural pathways.
My sessions are interspersed with grounding and heart coherence techniques, breathwork, and guided meditation. I also share personalized tapping tips to incorporate into your daily life.
